“The clash of ideas brings forth the spark of truth” —Aboriginal proverb

In every issue of *spark-online we apply this principle to our idea that the new world of high technology has not only created a new "e-society"—it has created a new understanding of self. We call this new understanding of self, "electronic consciousness." Technology hasn’t changed only our societies—it has fundamentally changed us. *spark-online is at the vanguard of recognising, and attempting to understand this change.

*spark-online is:

_Robert Delamar is a law student in the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia. Sip coffee for long enough on a rainy afternoon amidst the haze of Mild Seven smoke in the coffee shop underneath the JR tracks just off Hachiko Square and you'll soon understand the meaning of "electronic consciousness."

*submission info

*spark-online is a community. Submissions to the magazine are not paid. Nevertheless, our ‘zine is read by and has an effect upon a global community of readers. Through *spark-online, writers have an opportunity to reach thousands of passionate people every day. Our readers are fanatical about what they love and about what they hate, so prepare to receive lots of feedback if we choose to run your piece.

Submissions to the magazine should be between 400 and 1000 words. Please submit your work as an attachment in MS WORD, or as the body of an e-mail. Please use Times New Roman font (12 point), and include a short biography of yourself at the end of the piece (of no more than 40 words in length). Editorial policy will favour those submissions that are succinct in syntax, and in the active voice. We do place more value on an editorial-style opinion article, above a rational, argumentative-style article. We realise that this is a paradox, given the expressed intent of the magazine. However, because this publication is about the self and its relationship with e-society, we feel that a human voice, replete with emotion, and passion, is preferable to a voice that is more academic in nature. Also, given the constraints of the medium, an editorial style article lends itself better to an on-line publication.

Submissions are due on the first of every month, for publication on the first of the following month.

Please review our posted writer's contract.

Please send submissions to our Managing Editor, Robert Delamar at: rfdelamar@spark-online.com
